Fencing Slats
Slat Fencing in Sydney
A clean, modern boundary fence in aluminium slats, with the gap between slats set to suit, and gates made to match.
Slat fencing for boundaries, front yards and pools
Slats give a boundary more privacy than pickets while still letting light and air through. The examples below show a back-lawn boundary, a matching fence and gate across a side passage, and a short fence return between houses. Select a photo to see it larger.
- Side and back boundaries
- Front fences
- Around decks
- Pool and spa areas
- Matching gates
Choosing the slat gap and direction
The gap between slats decides how much you see through the fence, and how much light and breeze get through. Try the options on the sample panel.
Gap
Direction
Tight gap. The most privacy a slat fence gives, with a little light and air still coming through. Medium gap. A balance: the view is broken up, and the fence still breathes. Open gap. Marks the boundary and filters the view, with plenty of light and breeze.
An illustration, not to scale. Even a tight gap shows movement and light from some angles; we can show you real samples at the measure.
Slat fence or privacy screen?
They use the same slats but do different jobs. Many projects use both.
Slat fencing
The fence itself, running along a boundary, front yard or pool area, with posts set in the ground and gates to match.
Best for: a full new boundary or front fence.
Privacy screens and infills
Panels in particular spots: a screen on a deck, infills between piers, or a louvre enclosure for bins.
Best for: privacy in one spot, or finishing a front wall. See screening and infills.
Slat fencing questions
Still deciding? Call 1300 311 950 and we will talk it through.
A slat fence gives more privacy than pickets, but it is not a solid wall. A tighter gap screens more; how private it feels also depends on the height and where people look from.
Yes. Gates can be made with the same slat design as the fence. See our gates page for the types of gate.
Slat fencing is used around pool and spa areas. Where it forms part of the pool barrier, the pool barrier rules apply, so tell us when you enquire and we will talk it through.
Yes. Louvre blades let air move through while blocking a straight-on view. See screening and infills for louvre screens and enclosures.
